HOEDSPRUIT: Two men attacked by lion

Two Ngama Lodge employees were attacked by a lion while collecting wood.

“Qebekhulu  Justice and an unidentified friend of his were attacked by a lion on January 12, when they were collecting firewood within their work premises”, Hoedspruit police spokesperson Luvhuhani Mulaudzi told the Hoedspruit Herald.

Following the incident, Qebekhulu  Justice was airlifted to Rob Ferreira hospital in Nelspruit where he died yesterday.

“The owner of Ngama Lodge said there were no lions on the premises and he suspects that the lion has escaped from one of the lodges in the area”, she further stated.

An inquest has been registered and investigations are underway.
