Rainbow honours excellent students

Rainbow Combined School had its annual prize giving at Sasekani Village outside Tzaneen recently

 

Learners received certificates for extra-mural activities as well as academic performance.
“We gave certificates to those who showed the best improvement in Mathematics and Science in grade 8 and 12 as motivation to ‘I can do Mathematics!’,” said Cora Lubbe, Principal of the school.
Certificates of Highest Achievement in Mathematics and Languages English, Sepedi and Xitsonga in each grade. Certificates were also given to the best academically improved learner from term 1 to term 3.
Other certificates were also given to the best Academic Performance in each grade with subjects specific in grade 12.
Tshepang Mateta (grade 11), Nyakala Matsie (grade 9), Mtomba Dzunani (grade10) and Sagonda Douglas (grade 12).
This was the first year the school awarded learners with medals since 2014 when they began with the awards. Learners had to achieve above a certain percentage for each subject and term and had to keep it up for 9 Certificates in order to qualify for a medal.

rainbow2 (Medium)Learners who received the medals are Tumiso Maake (grade 12), Tlangelani Mboweni and Mateta and Sagonda was named DUX learner for 2016.

“Congratulations and well done to all our achievers of 2016, Rainbow is proud of you,” Lubbe added.
