Criminals target businesses in Tzaneen

Four popular businesses in the Tzaneen area were targeted by criminals over the past weekend.

A window was broken at a business in the old industrial area on Saturday, said police spokesperson Sergeant Glenda Maimele.

According to CCTV footage the suspects tampered with the safe but nothing was stolen.

The faces of the suspects were caught on footage.

Another business was also broken into on Saturday when suspected robbers entered through the roof and cut the camera cords.

Nothing was stolen.

According to Marius Jacobs of Northern Security, two security officers were tied up at gunpoint on Sunday.

An alarm from another building went off and the suspects fled empty-handed.

The officers were found by Northern Security who responded to the alarm.

Jacobs said that criminals are apparently switching off power in the hopes of draining the alarm batteries.

Sergeant Maimele also confirmed suspects attempted to rob a restaurant outside of town.

Also, nothing was reported stolen.

No arrests have been made yet in any of the cases and police investigations are continuing.
