Tzaneen’s little warrior angel, Imke Geldenhuys will undergo surgery today at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York.
‘Imke was scheduled for surgery on December 1 to remove the remaining tumor/soft tissue but Dr Modak and the team confirmed that surgery will happen on November 23 (Wednesday morning) instead. The quicker they do the operation the better’, Darius Geldenhuys, Imke’s dad, said.
The Geldenhuys family received news and reports from Imke’s Cat Scans and according to Darius had a very positive meeting with Dr Modak.
‘I know the very high dose of chemotherapy treatment was hard on Imke but after seeing the new full CT reports we know she had a good response to the chemotherapy and we’ve got a very good improvement on the new CT scans,’ Dr Modak said according to Darius.
Darius said that Imke was injected once more on Friday for her white blood counts to go up and they received the new counts.
‘All has improved. Our Warrior Imke is fighting so strong and she is being so courageous,’ Darius said.
By the time we received this information, the Geldenhuys family was on their way to meet the surgeon at Sloan Kettering who will operate on Imke today.
This will be Imke’s 9th time going into surgery.
The Geldenhuys family asked to pray for the surgical team and the little warrior angel Imke in your prayers.
The Family send all their love from abroad to the community of Tzaneen.
