The workers are employed by a contractor who has been hired by the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) to provide services to the community.
It is believed that the workers have been voicing out their concerns in the past few weeks but to no avail hence the lash out.
“As the municipality we urge the service provider to solve the issue at hand and resolve it speedily,” said Neville Ndlala, spokesperson of GTM.
A vendor who does not want to be named in Nkowankowa taxi rank, says the rubbish and its smell has affected his business and hopes the mess can be cleaned up soon.
