Cop killer, Zwanga Mbonani Mashawa (23) was sentenced to three lifetime imprisonment by Thohoyandou High Court for the brutal murder of, Constable Malesela Stanley Mokonyane, on Thursday.
The deceased was stationed at Modimolle Public Order Policing Unit (POP).
In February 2015 Mokonyane was deployed at Giyani police precinct during the municipal demarcations.
The deceased visited Thohoyandou on private businesses and was attacked by unknown suspects who stabbed him to death and robbed him of his cellphone and money.
Captain Matimba Maluleke followed the investigative instinct which led to the arrest of accused one, Mashawa, two, Khuliso Cedric Mbodi, who was acquitted on all charges as he turned into a state witness and three Tshefelimbilu Norman Mundalamo (29).
