TZANEEN: Motorists tired of trucks

'...Motorists in Tzaneen have complained about the traffic congestion caused by slow moving trucks, the potential hazards presented by their loads, and the damage they seem to be doing to the roads...'

Over the past few years, the number of trucks increased on the roads of Tzaneen.

Given the fact that Tzaneen is a part of a major agricultural hub, it’s to be expected that we’d have more trucks on our roads.

But motorists have complained about the traffic congestion caused by slow moving trucks, the potential hazards presented by their loads, and the damage they seem to be doing to the roads.

And given the overwhelming majority of recent road accidents involving trucks, something drastic must be done.`

Rufus Motlhare, superintendent to the Greater Tzaneen Municipality traffic department, agrees this is becoming a growing concern.

He has has been notified about a growing number of complaints regarding irresponsible trucking, and his request to motorists that encounter problems on the road is to contact him and provide the registration number and details of the vehicle in question.

He will then follow up on the complaint and take the necessary steps.

Motorists can contact him on 083 439 5364. Anyone with comments or opinions on this issue can send an sms to the Letaba Herald at 083 407 8887.
