Security guard killed at High School

A security guard was killed at a High School outside Tzaneen.

A 62 year old security guard was killed and R30 000 worth of groceries stolen at Modubatse High school in Ga-Kgapane on Saturday evening.

The body of Willy Ngobeni was discovered on the school veranda by the school principal.

“The body had no visible wounds but traces of blood could be seen in his mouth and through the nose,” said Bolobedu police spokesperson Constable Millicent Mohale.

When the body was discovered there were various bunches of keys scattered on the floor around the body.

“Groceries worth R 30 000 were stolen from the store room and the food was transported using wheelbarrows the perpetrators found on the premises,” said Mohale.

“The school had just received feeding scheme delivery on Friday, they had just delivered everything since schools were about to re-open,” said Rahlaha Robert, Modubatse High school’s stock controller.

“I control everything that comes in and goes out, and it is evident that they got away with a lot of groceries,” he further said.

A 24 year old man from a nearby village was arrested after he was found in possession of the deceased’s torch which he was selling.

When questioned the young man claimed that he had picked a bag up at a nearby river and the contents of the bag included the torch.
