Noise pollution revved up in Letsitele

A motor spares shop in Letsitele responsible for excessive noise pollution during the day and over weekends has residents outraged.

Residents of Letsitele have complained about the noise levels and social activity happening after hours outside the Rosina Motor Spares shop in town.

According to locals, the store front is used as a party venue, where people pull up to work on their cars, sometimes even parking on residential driveways.

Residents also report that they play deafening music, drink alcohol and afterwards leave a mess of bottles and rubbish in the street.

The SAPS has been called out on a few occasions to remove the loitering party goers, but they simply continue once police have left.

The parties are a tremendous disturbance to the peace and have a negative impact on the community – especially the elderly.

Whether late nights or early Sundays, the parties need to relocate to a more suited location where the community will not be so negatively impacted.

Letsitele’s police department is thus informed and admonished to ensure that the law is upheld and the community protected.

Letaba Herald paid them an undercover visit to confirm the allegations. When asked whether cars could be serviced on a Sunday, the mechanic assured us that any day would be suitable and that residents would have no problem at all.
