Huge spike in crime around Tzaneen

Community members are warned that there is a spike in criminal activity in and around Tzaneen the last couple of days, this according to Marius Jacobs of Northern Security.

There was an armed robbery on the Houtbosdorp road and two business break-ins in Boundary Street and Danie Joubert Street last night.

Jacobs said seven suspects attacked workers and stole a considerable amount of equipment in the armed robbery.

“Two workers were injured during the attack but luckily no one sustained any fatal injuries,” said Jacobs.

Suspects entered the premises of a business in Boundary Street but nothing seems to be stolen or missing.

An empty safe was all that burglars found in the break-in that occurred in Danie Joubert Street after they broke the window, cut the burglar bars and the safe.

During the week a dog was poisoned and a car window was broken in Soetdoring Street.

No arrests have been made for any of the cases.

Jacobs is urging the community to be careful.
