GIYANI: Home Affairs official arrested

The Hawks Anti Corruption unit arrested two Home Affairs officials on Thursday.

The first suspect is a 36 year old man, who is an Assistant Director at Giyani offices on charges of fraud, corruption and extortion.

He was arrested after a long and profound investigation which began in 2012.

He is accused of soliciting bribe from Asylum seekers the time he was a manager at Beitbridge Refugee centre.

The second suspect is a 42 year old female, who is an immigration officer at Beitbrige Home Affairs, she is accused of stamping a passport of a suspect who was in Police custody.

Both suspects will appear on Friday (today) in the Musina Magistrate Court.
