UPDATE: Lion poachers in Tzaneen court tomorrow

The three men that was caught with body parts of white lions appeared before the Namakgale Magistrates Court in Phalaborwa on Monday.

The case was postponed to Wednesday (tomorrow) and transferred to the Tzaneen Magistrate court.

Peter Nyathi (41), Alone Mapfumari (41) and Phineas Mngomezulu (34) are still in custody with no bail granted.

The two white lions were poached at Letaba River Lodge (Eco Park) just outside of Tzaneen.

The estimated value of the two lions are in excess of R500 000.

Big game farmers and breeders attribute the dramatic increase in lion poaching to recent bans placed on lion hunting.
