Mangena is mayoral candidate for Tzaneen

The ANC Chief Whip in the Greater Tzaneen Municipal Council, Maripe Mangena is the ruling party's mayoral candidate contesting this year's municipal elections.

The announcement followed after the ANC weekend’s special national executive committee meeting which considered and finalized its mayoral candidates for the 2016 local government elections.

The latest development means the current mayor of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Dikeledi Mmetle, whose name appear fourth on the list of Proportional Representative (PR) list of candidates will return to the council as an ordinary councillor in the new administration should the ANC retain the municipality.

Meanwhile, the Executive Mayor of Mopani District Municipality, Nkakareng Rakgoale is expected to continue in her office should the ANC win in the coming local government elections.

The ANC Mopani Regional Treasurer, Rakgoale’s name topped the list of PR list of candidates in Mopani.

ANCYL Mopani regional spokesperson, Tshepo Ratlou said the league welcomes the decision of the ANC National Executive Committee endorsing Nkakareng Rakgoale and Maripe Mangena as Mayoral candidate for Mopani District Municipality and Greater Tzaneen Municipality respectively.

“We call upon every member of mass democratic movement structures to rally behind the two comrades in their endeavour towards the fulfillment of the mandate from our people,” said Ratlou.
