No bail for witchcraft related murder
A 21 year-old man who hacked an elderly woman to death in a witchcraft related killing was denied bail when he appeared in the Naphuno Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Thabiso Maile of Madeira village in the Sekororo area was remanded in police custody for the brutal murder of his neighbour, Mpoti Mary Masekane (80) on Wednesday last week.
According to the police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the suspect accused the victim of practising witchcraft before hacking her to death with a sharp instrument.
Masekane’s body with multiple open wounds on the head and throughout the body was found lying in a pool of blood inside her house following the incident.
The suspect will appear again in the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on Friday pending further investigations.
