These Tzaneeners are running the Comrades

The Tzaneen Marathon Club is yet again set to participate in the 91st Comrades Marathon this Sunday.

This year the race is a down run, from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, a distance of 89,2km.

The race starts at 05:30 and the athletes have 12 hours to finish the race.

The Tzaneen Marathon Club has 31 members this year that will take part in this gruelling race, of which four of them will aim to finish their first Comrades Marathon.

To take part in this race, asks a lot of preparation from each and every participant.

Members of the club had to run between 1000 and 2000 km , or even more, from the beginning of the year in preparation for the race.

To qualify for the race, a standard marathon (42,2 km) must be completed in less than 5 hours in the months preceding the race.

We wish all the participants the best of luck for the day, and hope each athlete’s dreams will come true.

Run the “Ultimate Human Race” with grace and enjoy your day on the road.

In true sportsmanship the Tzaneen Cycling Club wishes the athletes all the best.

“We will keep an eye on you guys, on the road all the way,”  the club said.
