Phalaborwa: Impulse’s first album coming soon

A young and vibrant Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality based multi-talented music group is currently working on its inaugural EP album launch.

Impulse, a group of four members – Mahlatse ‘Lopez’ Mabushe (19), Thabang Malesa (23), Joy ‘Krazie Mac’ Mafuyeka (20) and Puleng ‘Master Pule’ Sono (29) plans to change the local, national and international music fraternity with their innovative sounds.

“The group was established last July. We were playing solo for quite a while, but felt that we needed to incorporate our varying talents to have a band coupled with creativity and strong urge to do something hence the name Impulse basically describing our characters towards the music industry. ” explained Master Pule.

Master Pule says the name ‘Impulse’ was derived from the word ‘pulse’ which also means when people are listening to their music it stimulates and brings their fun in them.

Lopez said they are currently working on an EP album that will be composed of four tracks for the time being, but for a long term they hope to outclass themselves.

“The album and all ingredients will be locally produced. Two of the tracks were performed during the recent Limpopo Marula Festival and Phangweni Vibes last December and the response was astonishing,” said Lopez. He added that they incorporated afro house, deep tech, commercial and tribe dance to accommodate a wide range of audience.

“We have two vocalists and two producers / DJ’s. We are opting for live performances to give people the real feel of the songs as opposed to the conservative studio produced tracks – the songs will be divided into digital and live,” noted Krazie Mac.

Krazie Mac is calling upon the musical fraternity and house fanatics to start saving funds to purchase their album digitally through Itunes and Traxsource once it is out.

“We have since acquired a record label deal with Infant Soul Productions based in Venda to release only the EP. Currently, there isn’t a Phalaborwa based record label we could have ventured with; however we are still open for other potential record label deals for future terms,” remarked Krazie Mac. Malesa said the central element around the group is to create music capable of relating to people in reference to their daily life experiences as they touch base on happiness, love, sadness, and adversities.

“We further aims to inspire young people to have clear goals and work towards attaining them irrespective of hardships along the path. Our short term goal is for the EP’s sales to reach at least 10 000 downloads. For long term, we aspire to see the group being elevated to the national and international stages competing and collaborating with other renewed artists,” emphasized Malesa. Master Pule said winning awards is basically one of their major aspirations for any solo or group and as such they are hopeful reaching that level provided local people do support them by downloading their music.
