Phalaborwa ANCYL back in office

The African National Congress Youth League’s Ba-Phalaborwa’s Sub-Region seems to be heading for parallel structures if what transpired last week holds water.

The disbanded Sub-Regional Task Team under the leadership of Coordinator, Kabelo “Mchana” Mphogo met at Foskor Primary School last Thursday and resolved to resume office with immediate effect.

The current Sub-Regional leadership, under Chairperson Dumisani Rocky Nyathi and Secretary Kabelo Force Pilusa, was elected during a controversial congress held at Sasavona Lodge on November 1 last year.

“It is long overdue that we resumed duty as the current leadership rigged the sub-regional congress, yet there was no response after the dispute. I wrote to the region, province and national offices. We cannot allow the ANCYL dying in our present era, as the current youth league’s leadership is just concerned about taking selfies on social media networks with senior leadership instead of touching the ground,” explained Mphogo.

Mphogo added that they will mobilise young people and respond to their interests.

“We can’t allow the ANC to respond to the EFF and these smaller political parties while we have the youth league. It will remain the ANCYL of Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo and many heroes and heroines who contributed positively to this vanguard movement, but those who continue to lead a personalized youth league of Che Selane and Collen Oros Maine we regard them as leaders of funeral cover,” he emphasized.

He further said the current leadership is gate keeping membership forms and they don’t have programmes.

“They are aligning themselves with COSATU local hence they lost focus. They are fighting battles of being PR councillors yet they failed to fill the stadium during the provincial May Day rally held at Lulekani Stadium. We are going to stand up to defend the ANC in all corners. They have made it their daily business to sabotage the programmes of the ANC. The so-called leadership under Rocky is nothing but an opposition party’s agency trying to destroy the ANC internally and we are watching them. We don’t fear anyone from the region to national and we don’t take them seriously. We are ready for anything,” stressed Mphogo.

The outspoken Mphogo said the Sub-RTT is the darling of the masses and will remain the vanguard.

“We are going to deliver an overwhelming victory for the ANC during the upcoming local elections. Let them continue with their selfies, but some of us will never see us smiling on social media platform as we will only smile when the ANCYL has been restored to its mighty days,” concluded Mphogo.

Responding to the allegations, ANCYL Mopani spokesperson, Tshepo Ratlou said all members must rally behind the elected leadership till the next conference.

“It isn’t the responsibility of Sub-Regional Chairperson & Secretary, but of branch secretaries and collective to do recruitment and our intervention will only come if they struggle to make copies of forms. We don’t encourage gate keeping of membership and we urge each member to go to its respective branch secretary or coordinator to join the ANCYL. If individual members encounter problems, we shall intervene. As of Cde Mphogo and his crew electing themselves as Sub-RTT that is anarchy and we are not going to allow it. Disciplinary processes will take place. We only recognize Cde Rocky Nyathi & Cde Kabelo Pilusa as Chairperson and Secretary respectively,” he said.

He added that if people want to join opposition parties they should do so without putting the organization into disrepute.

“We further fight for our own space in the organization for 20% representation in Municipal Council as adopted by the ANC, but we are not going to use anarchy. Our focus now is on Local Government Elections in defense of total victory of ANC & we are focused,” explained Ratlou.
