MOOKETSI: Illegal free for all after truck’s tyre bursts

A brewery truck driver watched helplessly as frantic residents scrambled for free beer from a truck after its tyre burst and the truck caught fire at Sekgopo on Friday afternoon.

The truck ferrying crates of beer was ransacked after it had to stop, following a burst tyre at Sekgopo village along the R81 road close to Mooketsi.

“Minutes after the truck stopped, frantic residents of Sekgopo villages including school learners in full uniforms, swarmed over it and looted full crates and beer bottles,” said an eyewitness who did not wish to be identified.
