Grandfather, grandson to appear in court for murder
A 72 year-old man and his 15 year-old grandson were arrested by Ritavi police for brutally killing the man's wife last night at Nkowankowa section A.
Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said this incident took in their family home.
“It is alleged that the two suspects jointly assaulted the deceased with various sharp objects and stabbed to death. When the police arrived at the scene, the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood next to the door inside a locked room with both her legs and hands tied with robes and having multiple wounds throughout her body,” said Ngoepe.
He said The deceased is identified 71 year-old Tsakane Victoria Rachiligane, who is a retired nurse.
Ngoepe added that the preliminary police investigations revealed that it was a domestic related incident but the motive behind this killing is still unknown.
“The police would like to advise and encourage members of the community to get help from the relevant authorities in case of any domestic related dispute instead of killing each other,” Ngoepe said.
The suspects are expected to appear before the Ritavi Magistrate Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder.
Police investigations are still continuing.
