Destitute family gets new house

The Limpopo Provincial Government officially handed over a house to a destitute family at Finale village in Sekororo last Friday.

A four roomed modern house was handed over to the Komane family by MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Jerry Ndou on behalf of the Premier Stanley Mathabatha.

Francina Getrude Komane (56) and her two daughters Lindiwe and Precious Komane aged 11 and 13 years respectively have been staying in a tent after their one room mud house was burned down in January.

The family did not own any furniture and all cooking utensils were kept on the floor and their clothes were packed inside plastic bags.

MEC for Co-operative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs, Makoma Makhurupetje said the family’s plight was brought to her department’s attention which managed to build a house for the family courtesy of Zorha Khan Developers.

Zorha Khan also bought beds and curtains for the house whilst the Mayor of Maruleng Municipality, Pule Mafologela bought a television, couches and a stove. The family also received groceries and other household needs from various donors.

The unemployed mother struggled to hold back her tears of joy as she accepted the keys to her new house. ” I am very happy, I don’t know how to thank you,” said Komane.
