Makgato retires after 41 years of service

The Department of Education Motupa Circuit Manager, Lawrence Makgato retired this week after serving the department for 41 years.

Makgato began working at the age of 20 at Kgapane High School were he joined a group of educators and was the youngest teacher of the group.

He helped build Kgapane High School and was involved in all sporting activities.

In 1989 he was then selected as a curriculum adviser and proceeded to study in Ealing, London towards a diploma in English language teaching,

He then proceeded to study the Outcome Based Education (OBE) in Ohio, USA. He later returned and trained other curriculum advisers.

Through out his service Makgato was committed to develop Motupa as a whole. The 63 year Old has reached retirement age after excellent service and establishing the Motupa Circuit Education Development Project (MCEDP).

The MCEDP has managed to secure a library donation from the Water Rand board, this library will be built in Motupa.

“I would love Motupa circuit to remain united and dedicated to improve the education in the Motupa Circuit and maintain the hardworking environment as well as thank them for the support of educators and the community at large, they have been very receptive colleagues,” said Makgatho.
