Plasie athletes second at Inter-high 2016

The sweat, the time, the exertion and the devotion paid off when Merensky High School participated in the Inter-High 2016 meet at Frans du Toit High School on Friday, 19 February, against six other schools: PHS, Louis Trichardt, Frans du Toit, Eric Louw, Northern Academy and HTS Tom Naudé. With excitement and anticipation Merensky athletes, singing team and supporters migrated to simmering Phalaborwa for the biggest athletics event of the year.

And in true Plasie style, they reaped the rewards of their commitment.
Top athletes, Christelle Coetzer and Noko Malatji, were crowned the best track athletes of the day, with Lilly Pohl claiming the trophy for the best field athlete. Noko Malatji was also honored as Victor Ludorum.
The Merensky girls team took top honours as the best team for the day with the boys team placed second. Merensky also walked away with the best top 10 achievers of the day.
Merensky High School took an overall second place with 666 points, with Pietersburg Hoërskool winning the meet with 762 points.
The singing team gave their all on the sun drenched pavilion, with the nerd-a-licious cheerleaders urging them on to even higher decibels.
On the track, field and in the stands, the Plasie spirit reigned supreme.
