Potentially dangerous man out and about in Tzaneen

An unknown person, who appears to be mentally unstable, is still out and about on the streets of Tzaneen after three videos was uploaded to social media of him terrorizing the community.

Two of the three incidents happened on Tuesday in Agatha street, the footage was posted on Facebook the following day.

The third incident also happened in Agatha Street at a garage on Thursday night and the video was posted to Facebook, Friday morning.

As seen on the first video above, the person purposely provoked a driver of a bakkie and assaulted her.

The owner of the vehicle was threatened and therefore prefers to stay anonymous for safety purposes. She climbed out of her vehicle to confront the man out of shock and anger.

It didn’t occur to her at the time that she potentially might be in danger.

He allegedly swore a lot and told her that he would kill her.

The video was shared on a popular group on Facebook and a great deal of members was upset that nobody even tried helping her.

The victim, who saw the video a day after the incident, was also in awe that so many people drove past and watched but nobody bothered helping.

The second video was posted minutes after the video above. The same man that assaulted the woman in the first video was completely naked and seemed out of control.

Due to the graphic content, Letaba Herald cannot publish the video.

Northern Security was contacted and an armed response officer, together with members of the community, tried to calm the man.

In the process the man spat in the officer’s face and also threatened him.

He was taken to the police station and allegedly was released hours later.

The victim in the first video said the police told her that the man was not in custody and that no case was made against him.

Letaba Herald contacted police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, on Wednesday and according to him the individual was in the care of people, including a social worker.

A member of the Limpopo Mental Health had no knowledge of the incidents or where the man could be.

With little information, Letaba Herald attempted to find the social worker responsible on Tuesday, but was referred to another person at Van Velden Hospital because there is no social worker currently employed by the Tzaneen SAPS branch.

The social worker at Van Velden hospital also had no knowledge of the man or his whereabouts.

She contacted another social worker that could possibly know but that also lead to a dead end.

An armed response officer of Northern Security, Marius Jacobs, was on the scene at the garage on Tuesday night and confirmed it is the same man who appeared in the previous videos.

He contacted the police but they never showed up. Jacobs followed the man towards Tzaneen CBD.

It is believed the man is still around town.

The footage proves the man is a potential threat to society and members of Tzaneen are warned to be careful.
