THE FULL STORY: Six suspects wanted after heist at Tzaneen Primary

Police are searching for six suspects after a Letaba Security cash-in transit vehicle was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money and weapons in the parking lot of Tzaneen Primary on Wednesday morning.

Four firearms and cell phones were taken with the money.

Three suspects were allegedly wearing police uniforms according to police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe.

They fired shots into the air but no one was harmed.

A witness that saw the robbery take place says the suspects were allegedly driving a white double cab bakkie with tinted windows and no registration plate.

Police believe that the suspects were using more than one vehicle.

It was the second cash-in transit robbery that happened on Wednesday.

“A manhunt for the suspects of the second cash-in transit at Tzaneen Primary is still on by the special joint operation composed of various Police Units in the Tzaneen Cluster of the Limpopo Province” said Ngoepe.

The first incident occurred along Tarrentaal and N’wamitwa road near Bushvalley in the Letsitele Policing area outside Tzaneen.

A security guard was wounded and is in hospital.

Parents of the learners went frantic on various social media platforms.

The principal of Tzaneen Primary, Vic Reijnen, issued a statement on their facebook page informing parents about the robbery that took place in the parking lot in front of the school hall.

He also stated that the normal school day will proceed and that the learners and teachers are at ease.

Investigations are still underway.
