Manhunt on for yet another cash in transit heist

A special joint operation by various police units in the Tzaneen Cluster launched a massive manhunt for a group of around 30 armed suspects who attacked and robbed a cash in transit vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money this morning.

A special joint operation by various police units in the Tzaneen Cluster launched a massive manhunt for a group of around 30 armed suspects who attacked and robbed a cash in transit vehicle of an undisclosed amount of money this morning.

According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident happened at about 04:00 along Tarentaal and Nwamitwa Roads near Bushvalley.

The suspects who were traveling in more than six vehicles, led by a black BMW-X5 with a blue light on the roof, attacked two cash in transit vehicles. They shot at the vehicles  with rifles until one vehicle overturned. Two security guards were seriously injured during the attack.

The other cash in transit vehicle  went off the road after the suspects shot at its wheels. Boxes of money were removed from the vehicle by the suspects.

According to information, the amount of money removed from the vehicles during the robbery amounts to millions.

The injured security guards were admitted to hospital with serious injuries while the other two who were in the cash in transit vehicle escaped unharmed. No one was killed.

The identities of the suspects are still unknown and no arrests have been made.
