BREAKING NEWS: Suspected burglar shot dead
An alleged burglar was shot dead on a farm in the Constancia area early Saturday morning.
The suspect gained entry to the property by cutting the electric fence around the house.
He proceeded to bend the burglary bars of a window when the owner of the house, Jacobus Kemp woke up.
Kemp fired a shot with a shotgun towards the suspect and hit him in the chest.
The suspect ran about 30 meters before he died.
Col Ronel Otto, spokesperson for the SAPS, says it is unclear whether the purpose of the shot was a warning shot or intentional.
A case of murder was reported but Col Otto says it is standard procedure in situations like this.
No one has been charged or arrested.
Investigations will be done and a docket will be sent to court where they will decide if someone will be prosecuted.
Col Otto said that at this stage, it seems like the suspect was alone.
The possibility of more suspects are being investigated.
The man who was shot is still unknown but Col Otto said the police is working on identifying him.
