Heavy sentences for law breakers

Ritavi Magistrate Court and Naphuno Regional Court have proved that no one is above the law when they gave offenders heavy sentences recently.

Ritavi Magistrate Court:

Simmy Lerato Nghamuni (42) was sentenced to six years for possession of firearm and ammunition without a license.

Marvel Ngobeni (24) was sentenced to six years imprisonment for attempted rapeand 50 year-old, Daniel Ngoako Ngoveni was given life imprisonment for raping his minor daughter.

Naphuno Regional Court:

Thirty year-old, Micheal Thani Rambau was convicted of rape and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment without an option of paying a fine.

According to the information available at this stage,it is alleged that the suspect raped a 15 year-old at Hlohlokwe Newline Village next to Mohlala Garage in 2012.

In another incident,27 year-old Sello Rasebetshela was convicted of three counts of theft out of motor vehicle and was sentenced to eight years imprisonment without an option of paying a fine.

Maake police spokesperson,Constable Rufus Magoro said,it is alleged the police received a tip-off from community members who allegedly saw the suspect pushing a wheelbarrow full of stolen properties,the police followed up the information and it led to the arrest of the suspect who was linked to three cases of theft out of motor vehicle around Mshangoville next to Rita Village.
