The elderly receive blankets for Mandela Day

CHoiCe Trust and local companies honoured the elderly members of our communities on July 17, the day before Mandela Day. As part of Mandela Day celebrations, CHoiCe took 111 blankets to the elderly in Mariveni village.

The event included health talks, singing and dancing and a meal for a group of elderly persons from the Va-Nkuna Hosana Old Age organisation. The blankets, which were distributed to each elderly person there as well as through home visits to those who were house-bound, were donated by local donors including Trophy Toyota and Caltex, Du Roi, Coca Cola, Blue Dot and the staff and Board members of CHoiCe Trust. CHoiCe was also joined by Pick N Pay who brought fruit parcels for the elderly. These donations were received in the spirit of Mandela Day, celebrated on the 18th July, which encourages everyone to give back to others.

Thank you to all the donors who showed such commitment and dedication to others this year. Their generous donations of blankets meant that the elderly community members in Mariveni village were able to celebrate the kindness of others this Mandela Day.
