She was not born when Mandela was released but…

There is so much history surrounding Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

Things he did before we were born even after we were born. Madiba, a true hero and icon ensured that everyone is equal regardless of the colour of their skin.

11 February 1990, the day Madiba was released changed a lot of people’s lives.

If only I was there, pity I was not born.

We have a lot to enjoy because of the late Madiba, he brought us light where there seemed to be none.

On his release day he quoted hos own words from his 1964 trial, “I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die”. Madiba dedicated his life to the struggle to ensure that one day we will all be free, he was even prepared to die for what he believed in, which is freedom. He gave his whole life to the struggle, 67 years of selfless and tireless dedication.

We are where we are today because of our fallen hero, our struggle icon, our father, Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela.

Things that Madiba was passionate about were education and children.

“We understand and promote the notion that while children need to be guided they also have an entrenched right to be whatever they want to be and that they can achieve this only if they are given the space to dream and live out their dreams”, a quote he gave at Bloemfontein, at the Annual Children’s Celebrations on September 27, 2003.

The love Madiba had for children was amazing. On education, Madiba ensured that every citizen knew the importance of going to school.

Speaking at the Planetarium in Johannesburg on July 16, 2003 he said “Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world”.

Mandela is a true hero, one of a kind.

Even the coming generations will know this heroic icon for his good deeds.

Long live the spirit of Tata Madiba long live.
