Manhunt for ATM bombing criminals

Police in Modjadjiskloof have launched a manhunt for suspects who attempted to blow up an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at Mooketsi Supermarket in the early hours of Friday.

According to police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kgamedi Seshoka, the criminals gained access to the premises by breaking down the back door.

“Their plans to blow up the ATM inside the supermarket were foiled by an alarm which went off while they were in the building. They ran away empty handed after the alarm went off,” said Seshoka.

He said police investigators found an explosive device believed to have been dropped in the bushes near the supermarket by the suspects who were running away from the scene.

Seshoka said the type of explosive device found is normally used by mining companies.

Anyone with information regarding the suspects is urged to contact Modjadjiskloof Police Station at 015 309 1700 or 0860010111.
