Pierre to lead GTM as new acting MM

The special council of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality on Monday appointed Pierre van der Heever as the acting municipal manager for a period not exceeding three months.

Pierre van der Heever is congratulated by the mayor of Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Dikeledi Mmetle following his appointment as the Acting Municipal Manager.

Van der Heever who is the municipality’s Director of Electrical Engineering Services takes over from Norah Lion whose acting term expired at the end of last month.

A well qualified electrical engineer, Van der Heever also successfully completed a Certificate Programme in Municipal Finance Management and a number of management courses.

Van der Heever (55) joined the Greater Tzaneen Municipality in 1991 as a Deputy Electrical Engineer and later became the director in the department.

“My immediate aim is to unite municipal employees around a common goal of delivering quality services to the community,” he said.

Municipal speaker, Cassius Machimane said, Van der Heever will act in the position until the new municipal manager is appointed.
