Villagers promised water

Villagers from Sasekani, Mhlava Cross, JB and Mhlava sent a task team to demand the provision of water from the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) last Thursday.

Residents who say they are tired of sharing water with animals are pleading with the GTM to supply them with clean running water.

The task team was welcomed by GTM’s speaker, Cassius Machimana and the director in the office of the executive mayor of Mopani District, Ngoako Lebepe.

The speaker promised the villagers that a meeting will be held where both GTM’s mayor, Dikeledi Mmetle and the executive mayor of Mopani District, Nkakareng Rakgoale will be present.

The task team presented the speaker and the director with a two litre bottle filled with dirty water which apparently they got from their taps.

Meanwhile, Task team leader, Irvin Shirindzi said that during the meeting which was held later, the executive mayor Rakgoale promised them clean running water within the next 14 days.

‘She said by May 6 we will have water,’ he said.

One of the villagers raised his concern, that ever since the democratic government took over they have been struggling to get water. He added that they need water as soon as possible.
