PLASIE swimmer, Ivan Botha excelled at the SA Schools Swimming Championship in 2014.
This prestigious event was held from December 11-15 in 2014 at the Hillcrest swimming pool in Pretoria. Ivan Botha, a Grade11 learner from Merensky High School participated in the u/16 category.
He performed exceptionally well, and swam in the finals in three of his six events. 50m Butterfly: First in a time of 27.66 sec, 50m Free Style: 4th 100m Butterfly: 5th 200m Free Style 11th, 50m Back Stroke 11th, 100m Free Style 16th.
He also formed part of the u/16 Limpopo relay team, which finished second in all three events, namely 4x100m Free Style; 4x50m Free Style; and the 4x50m Medley. The u.16 Boys relay team in which Ivan played a key role, achieved 3 silver medals.
Eastern Gauteng Aquatics beat the Limpopo team with less than 0.10 seconds in the 4 x 100m freestyle relay and 4 x 50m medley relay. Truly a great achievement!
