UPDATE: Seven arrested for alleged ‘Boko Haram’ murder

Seven men who were arrested for allegedly killing a 'Boko Haram' gang member appeared briefly before the Ritavi Magistrate Court on Wednesday morning.

The arrest came after one community member was shot and killed on Sunday night by someone who is believed to be part of the ‘Boko Harams’. The gang consist of boys as young as 16 who terrorize Dan Village, Lusaka, Nkowankowa and other neighbouring villages.

It is alleged community members were fuelled with anger after the death of an innocent community member who was fighting against crime, that they ended up murdering a ‘Boko Haram’ gang member. His body was found hanged behind Charles Mathonsi High School on Monday morning.

The men were remanded in custody and will appear again on December 17. Community members were enraged at the magistrate’s verdict and started chanting songs saying the men must be released.
