Greater Tzaneen Tourism Association (GTTA) hosted a tourism networking event last Thursday at Hotel@Tzaneen.

The aim of the event was for tourism stakeholders to network and get to know of opportunities that exist within the tourism industry.

Boitumelo Moleleki, Member Relations Manager at the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) was the key speaker. She introduced the audience to Tourism Levy South Africa (TOMSA).

Mololeki explained what TOMSA is and what it does: “It is a levy collected by tourism businesses with the aim of contributing to the promotion of South Africa as the preferred tourist destination locally and internationally. TOMSA is proudly administered by TBCSA, which is a company that is an umbrella organization representing businesses in the South African travel and tourism industry.” Mololeki illustrated the importance of collecting levy to the stakeholders.

“If you collect levy you get an opportunity to be part of TOMSA board. Collectors who are graded receive a 10% discount on Indaba exhibition rates.” Mololeki said.

GTTA’s Marga Hagens and Peter Maleta also gave a presentation on services rendered by their association. After presentations stakeholders got to know each other over finger snacks. The event was made possible by Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM), TBCSA, Lapologa Bed and Breakfast and Hotel@Tzaneen.
