Tzaneen XI crowned JMFG champions

Local soccer teams battled each other for the Judas Moseamedi Festive Games trophy

The Tzaneen XI has been crowned the 2019 champions of the Judas Moseamedi Festive Games at Makhubidung Sports Ground.

The games were established in 2017 by Maritzburg United FC player, Judas Moseamedi from Tzaneen.

Currently 16 teams from around the municipality are participating in the games.

According to the founder they are looking to increasing the number of teams to 32 based on the attention it has received.

“The aim of hosting the games is to improve our standard of football in our area.

“With this initiative we’ve seen a lot of talent and dedication coming from local clubs and so far we have a number of players that are playing professionally,” Moseamedi stated.

The winning team walked away with R20 000 prize money, plus kit with champions trophy and gold medals.

Meanwhile the runner ups walked away with R10 000 cash prize, third place team received R5000 and fourth position received R2000.

The professional soccer player started playing soccer at the age of seven and he has played for various local teams such as Mashakeni FC, Try again FC, 17 Chocolates, Killer Ocean Swallows and Burgersdorp United before joining Mpumalanga Black Aces.
