The local team smashed big teams such as Sedibeng and Umgungundlovu, national team players were also selected during the games.
The Mopani ladies comprised of seven players from Greater Tzaneen Municipality, two from Maruleng Municipality, one from Greater Letaba Municipality, two from Greater Giyani Municipality and one from Phalaborwa Municipality.
Coach, Joseph Nkuna says that he is proud of his girls for shining in their category.
“I’m happy with our gold medal especially that we have improved from third position in 2018 in the very same competition.

“Also considering the fact that we were playing against the best teams in the country.
“At one stage we were behind 6-19 to Umgungundlovu a team comprising of National team Captain, Bongiwe Msomi, but at the end we managed to comeback and beat them 31-30.
Nkuna also acknowleged the role which the Mopani Sports Academy and Limpopo Sports Academy had in the success of the team, after offering them two training camps ahead of the tournament at the University of Limpopo.
Nkuna concluded by promising that his team will keep up the momentum and will continue flying the Mopani flag up high for the whole nation to see.
