TZANEEN: Mighty Queens crowned Netball champions

The team did not only walk away with a trophy and medals for first place but they also got a cash prize of R6000.

Mighty Queens’ were crowned the Netball champions in the Greater Letaba municipal area on Sunday.

The Madumeleng based lasses beat Itieleng Netball Club, from Sekgosese 47-7 to lift the winners trophy.

The Greater Letaba Municipality hosted its Mayor’s Cup on the day, which brought together not only the teams and players of Ladies soccer, Netball and Soccer but also the Bolobedu communities at large.

The first match that took place under the Netball category was between the Mighty Queens and the Extreme Eagles from Bodupe.

The Mighty Queens beat the Eagles 44-27, which automatically qualified the Queens for the semi-finals.

The second match was between the Maphalle Netball Club and Itieleng Netball Club from Sekgosese which saw Itieleng winning 28-14.

 

Mighty Queens vs. Extreme Eagles match.

The Extreme Eagles played against the Maphalle Netball Club in the ‘Loser’s Final’ and this saw the Extreme Eagles winning 16-6, which automatically put them in third place.

After a long, hot day of playing four quarter matches, the Mighty Queens took on Itieleng where they went onto winning the match 49-7.

The team did not only walk away with a trophy and medals for first place but they also got a cash prize of R6000.

Maphalle Netball Club vs. Itieleng Netball Club from Sekgosese.

Itieleng Netball Club, as second place holders walked away with a cash prize of R5000 and medals, where the Extreme Eagles walked away with medals and a cash prize of R3500.

Maphalle Netball Club having come out fourth walked away with a cash prize of R3500 only and no medals.
