Athletics club excels
The Nkowankowa Athletics Club excelled at the Pre- Season Track and Field Competition held at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday October 14.
Schools and athletics clubs from other districts in Limpopo Province competed against each other.
The competition was a way of preparing athletes for the upcoming athletics season which will begin early next year..
Liana Mushwana received a silver medal in shot-put in the under 13 category, Mahlatsi Baloyi received a bronze medal in 200M race in the under 12 category with a personal best time of three minutes and twenty one seconds, Nelvin Nhuvunga got two silver medals for 80M and 100M races, Surprise Maluleke got a personal best of 19,61 seconds in the 150M under 11 and Minkateko Sithole won gold in the under 15 long jump.
“I’m very proud of all my athletes and I believe that in the next season they will do well, especially the ones who attained personal bests if they continue working hard they can represent the province in national competitions,” Said Coach Conride Shikwambana, Nkowankowa Athletics Club.
Shikwambana also urged other athletes to train through-out the year, so that when the athletics season starts they do not struggle.
