Ebenezer mile a success

The Haenertsburg Rotary Club and Smit & Kie Brokers presented the Ebenezer Mile open water swim at the Ebenezer Dam in Magoebaskloof on Saturday.

The sunny weather and dam filled over 100% by recent rains ensured that the open water swimmers enjoyed the event. In the mile women’s 31+ category Pia Stewart took first place swimming the mile in 23:44. Megan Albertyn took second place with a time of 27:46 and Tarina van Zyl took third place with a time of 29:34. Rozaan Korff took first place in the girls’ u.14 category with a time of 25:46. Terblanche took second place. Gary Albertyn took first place in the men’s 31+ age group completing the mile in 22:00. Kuno Venter took second place with a time of 24:34 and Leon Roode took third place with a time of 26:02. Ilia Papadopoulus took first place in the boys u.14 age group and completed the mile in 31:53. Janeli Moller took second place completing the mile in 33:33. Luke Breetzke took third place with a time of 36:36.

In the open category (ages 14 to 31) Connor Albertyn took first place in the men’s division with a time of 20:53. Jean-Marie Swartz won the women’s division with a time of 23:50. Jenny Zhang took second place in the women’s division swimming the mile in 23:58. Armand Burger van Vuuren took second place in the men’s open division, swimming the mile in 24:13. Hendus Janse van Rensburg took third place with a time of 25:02.

In the 3000m open water swim Dylan Kamstra took first place in the men’s division with a time of 49:53 and Caroline Koll took first place in the women’s division swimming the 300m in 50:54. Dante Botha took second place in the women’s division with a time of 51:01. Stephen Trickett took second place in the men’s division with a time of 58:47. Joshua Shoebotham took third place in the men’s division with a time of 1:00:27 and HannaLouise Myburgh took third place in the women’s race with a time of 1:09:47. In the 500m open water swim Chignet Davel took first place followed by Leah Stewart and Hendré Venter.
