VW Crew embarks on a grocery drive for the disadvantaged

The drivers formed a convoy driving their luxury VW cars as they visited the families.

Tshepiso Jan Mosoma, chairperson of the Phalaborwa VW Crew, said the donation of groceries to needy families is an ongoing process.

“We donated groceries to ten families last year.

Our goal is to do good for the community of Ba-Phalaborwa,” he added.

The group also realised that the house of one of the recipients of groceries in Majeje village had a damaged door and they are planning to return and repair it.

For their next event, they are planning to donate blankets to more poverty-stricken families.

The group has a list of needy families that they have identified and are planning to assist them.

They also plan to organise a soccer tournament for the local community soon.

Currently, the Phalaborwa VW Crew has 76 registered members, consisting of 20 women and 56 men. The joining fee is R150.

Once you join you will be added to their WhatsApp group and also receive a free T-shirt.

It has a committee that meets weekly to deliberate on its plans.

Amongst the group are professionals such as engineers, artisans, medical practitioners, law enforcement officers and entrepreneurs.

Mosomo added that one of their objectives as a group is to promote excellence.

The members come from Namakgale, Lulekani, Phalaborwa, Makhushane and Selwane.

They have established a working relationship with VW Polokwane and Lannie Motors in Tzaneen.

The Polokwane branch sponsored their T-shirts and a braai for the members.

The Crew is looking to establish relationships with local companies in the region.

“We want to change the stigma of VW drivers being womanisers with multiple partners.

“We are also appealing to the local authorities to fix the potholes and damaged roads so that our famous convoy can drive easier instead of ducking potholes,” he concluded.
