Your sneakers are in good hands with Kevin

Hardly a month after opening, the Sneaker Laundry has already made a name for itself on the local scene.

Founder of the company, Kevin Bvuma from Nkowankowa says it is time for youngsters to start creating employment in order to grow the township economy.

“It is important for the youth to have side hustles or businesses.

We cannot only rely on the government or private companies to provide jobs for all of us.”

He also works as an agriculture plant production facilitator and workplace coordinator for Signa Academy.

“We need to stand up and do it ourselves and in that way, we will be uplifting ourselves and our communities through job creation.

“My dream for the youth is to see them using what they have in order to get what they want.

Kenny Mhangwana and Moses Ngobeni, temporary workers at the Sneaker Laundry.

“You don’t need to have a lot of money to start a business or to rely on the government to give you funds to start your business,”he explained.

Bvuma told the Herald that by establishing his business he hopes to inspire other youngsters.

“It’s painful when you see young people standing in corners, asking R2 from people in order to buy cigarettes instead of doing something with their lives,” he said.

The 30-year-old is currently running the business with his girlfriend, Xongile Ngobeni at home in Nkowankowa Section C.

They also do collections and deliveries in Nkowankowa and Mariveni.
