Woman in hospital after being stabbed during robbery

The police in Tzaneen are investigating a case of house robbery.

This comes after three unknown men broke into a house in the early hours of Monday at Green Gables complex.

Tzaneen police spokesperson, Sgt Maurice Nkhwashu said the incident occurred around 03:00. “At around 03:00 the 47-year-old female victim went downstairs, she was confronted by two balaclava clad men wearing hand gloves wielding knives with torches.

She screamed for help and they stabbed her four times on the back and once on her thigh injuring her badly. They took her upstairs where they tied her up,” said Nkhwashu.

Nkhwashu said her 18-year-old son who heard her scream opened his bedroom door to help.

He was stabbed on his hand by the third suspect and taken upstairs and tied up with the mother.

“They then ransacked the house and took bank cards, laptops, car keys, clothing, electronic pc game and jewellery. The estimated value of stolen items is R89 300. A case of house robbery has been opened and an investigation is underway,” he said.
