‘Take a short left to Sabie Academy’

At the age of nine, Thomas Böhm had his first motorcycle ride and from that tender age he knew he wanted to pursue a career out of it.

He grew up at the Bohm’s Zeederberg Country House between Sabie and Hazyview, where he attended school until grade 12.

He went on to study mechanical engineering and marketing, however soon after his studies he went into the hospitality industry where he worked in the United Kingdom and Cape Town.

Fate brought him back to the Lowveld where he operated various restaurants and accommodation establishments.

After starting to host a number of biking weekends he was offered the opportunity to open a riding academy in partnership with BMW Motorrad. Consequently in 2012 he went to Germany to complete his off-road and road instructor certification.

He is currently an operations instructor at the Sabie Valley Rider Academy (SVRA). SVRA mainly offers training and tours, but they also do events such as Sabie GS Challenge and the BMW Motorrad Trophy.

Their courses range from level one introduction to an advanced adventure riding course.

Adventure riding is a comprehensive course consisting of theory and riding aimed at the rider new to off-road motorcycling.
