MEC’s check for Covid-19 compliance as SA opens borders

The number of people and vehicles on the roads leading to South Africa is expected to increase from Thursday (today) when the border operations return to normalcy.

This is according to the spokesperson of Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala.

On Tuesday 29 September, Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya and the Health MEC Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, visited the Groblersbridge border post between Botswana and South Africa to check if the border is Covid19 compliant under the current lockdown alert.

Lerule-Ramakhanya says the security cluster is ready to deal with movement of people ahead of the highly anticipated opening of the borders on Thursday.

The department has put measures in place near the two borders to minimise fatal crashes and delays at the point of entry.
