Gallery: Tzaneen Chamber of Commerce announces new council members

The second luncheon of the year for the Chamber of Commerce came with an announcement of the new Exco members to join the chamber and a brief look at the financials for last year.

The Tzaneen Chamber of Commerce held their annual general meeting on Friday, February 21 at the Hotel@Tzaneen.

The meeting was centered around appointing new members to the board of the chamber.

Sponsor of the event, Karabo Mphela from Boston City Campus and Business College gave a talk on the college.

He read out testimonials from graduates which gave supporting evidence that, in Mphela’s words, “it can be done” and explained that the college also provides payment plans to make studying further easier.

Llandi van der Walt, chairperson of the chamber went on to making announcements regarding members retiring.

Rodney Moore, treasurer of the chamber presented the chamber’s financial report. He stated that in 2018 the chamber had a deficit while in 2019 they had a surplus.

“Anyone who wants a detailed copy can get it electronically from the secretary,” he added.

Moore also stated that joining fees remain at R1500. Sponsor fees will also remain the same at R4000 for a main sponsorship and R2000 for a joint sponsorship of the monthly luncheons.

“We also have three newly elected exco members for the committee of the chamber and we would like to welcome all of them. We wish them well in this new chapter,” stated van der Walt.

The new members were named as Yolanda Groenewald, Benno Stander (Letaba Herald Branch Manager) and Joe Dreyer.

Van der Walt also encouraged people to vote for Tzaneen as it is in the running for ‘Town of the Year’ on the television programme, Kwêla.

The next luncheon will be included in Herald’s Calendar.
