Meet Tzaneen’s new station commander
The community of Tzaneen can rest assure that they are in the safe hands of the new Station Commander of the Tzaneen Police Station.
Brigadier Charles Edward Masinamela has vast experience in the policing field which dates back 26 years.
He started working at the local station in December and says that everything is running smoothly.
He was born and bred in Ximawusa Village outside Giyani, where he completed both his primary and secondary education.
In 1994, after matric, he went to a police college in Hammanskraal where he qualified as policeman.
His first posting was at Hillbrow Police Station in Johannesburg. He served the station for many years, before left in 2001 to become a warrant officer at John Voster Square.
In 2003 he was was promoted to a personnel management position and two years later was again promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel stationed at SAPS Head Office in Pretoria.

In his career he also served as Acting Station Commander of Makweng Police Station, Head of Personnel at the Mangaung Provincial Office in Bloemfotein to name but a few.
He attributes his success to prayer, hard work and continuous study.
If he is not at work, he is a loving father to his six children, which he says are his world.
During his spare time he enjoys travelling with family and says his dream vacation is going to London.
Not surprising, his first born son, a pilot and property investor, Pontsho Mahlakwana, refers to his father as a hero.
Mahlakwana is currently writing a book as a tribute to his father, which talks about the life lessons he has learnt from his dad.
“I walk tall with pride in being his son and believe I’ve taken to heart all he has passed on to me.
“His exemplary conduct speaks more than qualifications in my biography.
“No amount of gratitude is due to his efforts in moulding his children,” Mahlakwana stated.
Meanwhile the SAPS Tzaneen Cluster Commander, Major General Maggy Mathebula, also wished Masinamela well on his new appointment.
“The post has been vacant for sometime and we hope that through his appointment the community will get the service it deserves.
“Already in the short space of time that he has been appointed we have seen a difference,” concluded Mathebula.
