Car recovered after intervention

After swift reaction from the Canine Security team, the stolen vehicle was found at a filling station outside Tzaneen.

An incident that occurred on Sunday at around 01:34 saw the swift reaction of the Canine Security and police services in Tzaneen.

According to a post by Watch Dog Tzaneen on Facebook, Canine Security got a complaint that a vehicle had been stolen and that is when the security company mobilized, bringing on the police to help track and find the car.

Marius Jacobs from Canine Security told Letaba Herald that the complainant, who is also the owner of the car reported it stolen.

“When we got the call, we immediately set out to search filling stations in Tzaneen and surrounding areas as the owner had stated that the vehicle did not have much petrol to get too far,” Marius explained.

He further exclaimed that upon arrival at a filling station in Tarentaalrand, he spotted the car and because he was uncertain about the registration number, he had to call his colleague who was with the owner of the car to confirm the registration number before acting on the matter.

“The car was parked outside the filling station with one African male suspect inside. When I got there, I parked my car behind him and after a while, he then went into the shop and later came back out. After calling for backup from the police, the suspect was arrested,” Marius told Herald.

According to Marius, the suspect looked like he was waiting on someone at the filling station but he was arrested before any details could be given.

Herald tried contacting the police for comment, however at the time of going to print there was no response.
