TZANEEN: Court denies bail for suspected stock thieves

The driver and owner of the vehicle were apprehended on the spot.

Two suspets appeared in the Bolobedu Magistrate Court for stock theft on Monday.

Mduduzi Semilane (29) and Flengi Shaun Ramalepe (33) were denied bail and their case was postponed to Friday, June 28 pending further investigations.

It is alleged that about four suspects were travelling in a bakkie that was loaded with carcasses of five cattle at Shawela village.

Police spokesperson, Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said that they stopped a suspicious vehicle and two suspects managed to run away.

The driver and owner of the vehicle were apprehended on the spot.

Ngoepe said that preliminary police investigations managed to find the stock owners who subsequently identified their cattle through the brand mark.

The police manhunt for the remaining suspects is still underway.
