#Maphalle24: Three families requested not to be part of mass funeral

Three of the 24 young people who died in an accident on the R81 near Maphalle will be laid to rest separate from the mass funeral.

This comes after three families requested not to be part of the mass funeral to be held tomorrow Saturday 22 June at Ga-Rapitsi in Kgapane.

“The mass funeral will only be for 21 victims,” said Mopani District Municipality Spokesperson Witness Tiva.

According to Tiva, Makola Stanley Lekukela, Mangena Mashao and Monyela Matome Doctor requested the preparatory committee to allow them space to bury their loved ones outside the mass funeral arrangement.

The Makola family will bury their loved ones on Saturday.

The Mangena and Monyela families will proceed with their funerals on Sunday respectively.

“The committee agreed to their request to have private space to have three separate funeral services,” Tiva said.

The funeral service for the other 21 victims of the horrific crash will be held at Kga-Rapitsi Sports ground tomorrow, Saturday 22  June.

“The Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula, The premier of Limpopo, Stan Mathabatha, MECs and Mayors will be among hundreds of mourners expected to converge at Ga-Rapitsi to accord a befitting send off to the deceased.” Tiva said.
